Ring it up. The counter was built in 1953 for a drugstore that closed in 1979. Lettie found the marble under four layers of linoleum and the brass taps in a box marked “junk”.

Still ringing. Every syrup is cooked on the back bar from fruit, root and bark, then bottled next door on a filler older than both of us.

“The cherry phosphate tastes exactly like the drugstore on Main Street did when I was nine. I ordered a case and drank two standing at the mailbox.”

1How long does a bottle keep?

Nine months unopened, kept out of the sun. There are no preservatives beyond phosphoric acid and citrus, so once a bottle is open, finish it that day — that has never been a problem.

2What does shipping cost, and when does it leave?

A flat $9 to anywhere in the lower 48, free on two cases or more. Orders in by Sunday night ship Monday; by Wednesday night, Thursday. Most porches see it in 2–4 days.

3A bottle arrived broken. Now what?

Tell us which one and how many. We send replacements on the next ship day — no photos, no returning the glass. Unopened cases can come back within 30 days for a refund.

4Is there caffeine or anything artificial?

No caffeine in anything except the cola-bark base in the mixer. Colour comes from the fruit, root or a splash of beet; sweetness is cane sugar, about 31 g a bottle.

5Do you sell to cafés and burger stands?

Yes — syrups in 2-litre jugs and cases at trade price from 10 cases a month. Write to Dale with what you pour now and he will send a sample box.
